Brief Character History

Addie was the eldest daughter of Tom and Alice and was born in 1931 along with her twin brother Tom Horton Jr. Addie's other siblings included Mickey, Bill, and Marie Horton. Addie married her first husband Ben Olson in 1949 and she had two children with him, Steven and Julie. In 1967 Addie and Ben left Salem for Paris and left their teenage daughter Julie behind in the care of her grandparents. In 1971 Ben Olson died in Paris and Addie returned to Salem.

Addie took a strange fascination with Doug Williams, and decided to have him investigated. Addie learned Doug's real name was Brent Douglas, and that he was a con man by trade. However Addie felt an attraction to him, and striked up a friendly relationship with him. In 1972 Addie asked Doug to marry her the night Doug and Julie had planned to take a trip to Portofino even though she knew he was truly in love with Julie, and Doug accepted. In Late June, 1972 Doug and Addie eloped and went to Portofino.

Upon returning to Salem Addie bought Sergio's and renamed it Doug's place as a wedding gift for her husband. Addie loved Doug greatly, and in time he came to love her as well. In 1973 Addie and Doug learned they were expecting a child. However their happiness would soon be shattered when Addie learned she had leukemia. Addie slipped into coma, but awakened to give birth to her daughter Hope Williams on December 24, 1974 and soon after Addie's leukemia went into remission.

Addie's health improved, and Doug and Addie were happy with little Hope. Addie's happiness wouldn't last for one day while crossing the street Addie was struck by a car and killed. Addie gave her life to save her baby Hope, whose carriage would have been struck by the car if she had not pushed the carriage out of the way.

Brief Character History
Abe's first major storyline was when he was the police officer who investigated Anna Brady's claims that she was sold into white slavery, and reported the existence of her secret Swiss bank account to her husband, Roman. He played in the background for awhile until a pretty woman named Nikki Wade was hired to be a secretary for the Salem PD. She appeared to be a normal, average girl, but actually came from an extremely wealthy and respected family. Their relationship fizzled to a halt when he stood her up at a debutante ball to go on a drug bust, not realizing that the dealer was actually an undercover Roman. The two had a long, drawn out argument because neither knew what the other was doing. Sometime in the years after Nikki (and before being promoted to police captain), Abe met and married fellow cop Alexandra Brooks. Abe was later promoted to police commander when Roman used illegal methods to catch criminal Rafe Torres.

For a long time Abe was on the back-burner, appearing only seldom in his capacity as a police officer. A brief storyline involving his wife's growing fascination with his brother, Jonah, mostly left Abe out of the loop. His next major storyline involved the Aremid wedding of Peter Blake and Jennifer Deveraux. Abe was caught up in the investigation of Tony DiMera's murder, while his wife, Lexie, was searching Aremid's adoption records for her file. Abe supported his wife when she learned that Frankie Brooks (a.k.a. Celeste Perrault), whom she'd always thought to be her aunt, was really her mother, but was less supporting when they learned that Stefano DiMera was in actuality her birth father. Abe was even less pleased with Stefano when he and Lexie had to go to Paris to find Stefano and Marlena, whom he had kidnapped. Abe, Lexie, John, Kristen, and RenĂ© (a French gendarme who was a friend of John's) spent the night at a ball that John had set up looking for Marlena, but Stefano anticipated this, and had a lot of Marlena impersonators present. Abe and Lexie managed to save Kristen and Rachel from an underground explosion, but when Rachel Blake realized Stefano was about to get away, she shot at him near a gas tank, and the tank exploded. Stefano and Rachel were presumed dead. When Abe finally caught up with Stefano, he was unable to prosecute him, because only Stefano had the drug that would save Roman's life. Abe, Lexie, and John helped break Stefano out of jail. He was pardoned for his crimes after returning to Salem with the drug Roman needed.

Shortly after, a young man named Brandon Walker showed up in town. He had an inexplicable hatred for Abe that he didn't understand. He was the driving force behind a young man named Larry suing Abe. Larry was a young man that, years before, Abe had shot and paralyzed while on the job. Abe couldn't understand what Brandon's problem with him was until Brandon's mother, Fay, who Abe had known years before, explained to him that Brandon had seen them together, and had blamed Abe for the break-up of their family. At the same time, he was going through troubles with Lexie. The underlying pain in Abe and Lexie's relationship was always their inability to conceive a child. The two finally agreed to discuss adoption, and Stefano arranged for them to meet a young woman named Marlo, and to adopt her baby. Abe and Lexie had just gotten baby Isaac home when more troubles struck...Abe misunderstood a situation involving Brady Black playing cowboys and indians (he was currently wanted by the police), and shot him. Brady spent a long time without the usage of his legs, and even sued the police force.

Abe and Lexie were heartbroken when it was revealed that the son they had been raising was Bo and Hope's son when his birth father came to town to claim him. Although they originally tried to keep him, when Abe realized what this was doing to Lexie he signed custody over to Bo and Hope. He and Lexie separated briefly because he couldn't reconcile himself to his wife turning into a true DiMera. They reconciled before long, and when Lexie realized she was pregnant, they were overjoyed. On the day Lexie was due to give birth, Brandon Walker burst in proclaiming that he was Abe's son. Not long after, Abe learned that Lexie had slept with Brandon, and he could be the father of little Theo! Luckily, Abe was the father, and before Brandon left town, he and Abe were able to embrace each other as father and son. Abe was just beginning to enjoy being a full-time father for the first time when he was shot dead the day of his son's christening, the first victim of the 2003 Salem serial killer.

Months later Abe turned up on a remote tropical island, a complete replica of Salem, desperate to get back to Lexie before she could move on (no explanation for why his ghost appeared in Salem after his 'death'). He worked together with Roman and later John to try to get off the island. They were successful in escaping the island, but not all of them made it back to Salem. Abe was reunited with Lexie and Theo, thrilled to see his son in person for the first time since the day of this christening, but soon began having vision problems. He was devastated to learn that he could soon be completely blind, and was more determined than ever to spend as much time as he could with his family while he could still see them. Abe was thrilled when his son, Brandon, came home for Thanksgiving for a brief visit. After Brandon left, though, things began going downhill for Abe. He lost his vision completely and learned he was impotent, and often became angry with Lexie very easily. He began accusing her of wanting to sleep with Tek, even though she hadn't done so (at that time). A short time later, though, Abe and Lexie both decided their marriage was important to them, and that they wanted to work it out.

Abe was devastated when Lexie was believed dead in a horrible car accident. Shortly after, his eyesight began to deteriorate again, and Abe had to undergo a second transplant. Not long after, it was discovered that Lexie was really alive, and had been held hostage in the tunnels under Salem for a number of months. The two were reunited and began looking forward to a future again raising their son Theo.

Abe and Lexie began noticing that Theo was having problems playing with other children. After several tests, Theo was diagnosed with autism. Devastated, Abe and Lexie went to counseling and worked through their problems. The therapy helped. Abe's new look on life did cause him to make some serious changes.

First, Abe finally vented his frustrations over Lexie's infidelities and was able to forgive her. Second, Abe got so frustrated with the corruption at city hall, lead by Mayor Marino, that Abe decided to quit his job as the Police Commissioner and run for mayor. In November 2008, Abe Carver was elected the Mayor of Salem. He appointed Bo as the Police Commissioner and vowed that together, he and Abe were going to finally bring down Stefano.

Brief Character History
The elder child of Jack and Jennifer Deveraux, Abby was very loved by both of her parents. As an infant, she came down with aplastic anemia, as the result of a polluted waterwell. She desperately needed a bone marrow transplant, and because of Jack's Hodgkin's he was not able to donate to her, but luckily her mother's friend and co-worker Austin Reed was a perfect match. Abby was barely out of the woods when Jack, who discovered he was responsible for her anemia, took off. Before long, Abby was starting to associated Jennifer's new boyfriend Peter Blake with fatherhood, but Jack soon came back into her life. After a series of misadventures (including her father going to prison and her mother being presumed dead), Abby and her family left Salem for Africa.

A few years later, Abby and her mother were living in Ireland, but returned home after encountering her honorary uncle Bo Brady there. Abby was thrilled when Jack followed not long after that, and began hoping that her parents would find their way back to each other, despite her mother's relationship with Brandon Walker and Colin Murphy. She was overjoyed when her parents were married, but devastated when, not long afterward, her father was murdered by the Salem Stalker. When Jennifer had to make the decision to take Jack off life support, Abby blamed her, and turned to her grandmother Jo and honorary grandfather Vern for comfort. Her emotions seesawed for a few months (she was happy when her mother got pregnant, angry when her mother considered terminating the pregnancy for health reasons), but eventually she started accepting the way things were, and with new friend and Deveraux boarder Patrick Lockhart, is eagerly anticipating her new sibling's birth.

Abby was away at camp when Jennifer decided to take off and go looking for Jack. When she returned home, she resented the fact that her mother had sent her away. Even though she was happy to meet her new brother, when she realized that her father was (once again) presumed dead, she blamed her mother, and wished that Jennifer was dead instead of Jack. Jennifer started rebelling from her mother after she came home with her new baby brother, Jack Jr., and spent a lot of time with her new friend Chelsea, who was pretending to be sweet and kind around Jennifer but was really a bad influence on Abby. She even had Abby going alone with her in her plans to drug Patrick so that she could sleep with him. When Jack finally came back from the dead for real, though, Abby was thrilled, and although still close friends with Chelsea, her closeness with her family has changed Abby somewhat. Abby was devastated to learn that her father, Jack, was dying and that she would soon lose him again, but Chelsea was there to offer comfort to her friend.

Abby was overjoyed when things turned around for Jack, and he went into remission again. Shortly thereafter, though, Jack and Jennifer announced their plans to move to London. Although Jack Jr. went with their parents, Abby elected to stay in Salem and finish school, and shortly thereafter, as a university student, began working at Max Brady's garage. She soon developed a crush on Max, who at the time was back and forth between Chelsea and Stephanie, but when he broke things off with Chelsea and Stephanie left town, Max admitted that he had feelings for her as well, the two began to see each other, much to the dismay of Abby's family, who thought Max was too old and too experienced for Abby. When Abby's relationship with Max proved to be too difficult, she left Salem to attend school in New York.

"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives . . ."

Days of Our Lives is the story of the Horton family and all the people who crossed paths with them and their friends over the last three decades.
It all began with Tom Horton, who was born in the Midwest town of Salem in 1910. He so loved and admired his father, a physician in general practice, that he looked forward to being just like him when he grew up. It was no surprise that Tom eventually became a doctor, too.
In high school, Tom dated Alice Grayson, an intelligent, sensitive teenager, a year younger than Tom. She came from a blue-collar family headed by her dad, who was lovable but somewhat irresponsible. He had started out as a fine cabinetmaker, but because of a weakness for drinking, eventually became a handyman. Perhaps a bit of social embarrassment kept Alice withdrawn, buried in books and fantasy. However, with Tom's persistent love, Alice blossomed into an outspoken and handsome young woman. They wed a few years after she graduated high school in 1930.
Tom had been the star pitcher of his high school baseball team and athletic ability served him well. Later, while at the local university and already married, he earned money by playing for a local minor league team. If not for his dedication to medicine and serving humanity, Tom likely would have pursued a professional baseball career.
Tom completed his military service, reaching the rank of captain in active duty in the South Pacific during World War II. Afterward, he began his medical career as a professor or internal medicine at University Hospital in Salem.
He was always well-liked as a student, soldier, athlete, and physician. Tom was always ready to lend an ear --- or some money when he could. He tried always to see the best in people and let them learn by their own choices, whether he viewed their actions in their best interests or not.

Sorry For The Inconvenience

Dear Bloggers,
Since I haven't made a post since Friday March 26, 2010, I am not going to post every single days synopsis up until today. I am just going to make it easier and just do a monthly synopsis for the month of April and then do every day in May up until Friday May 7, 2010 and then continue on as I was doing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Daily Update for Friday Mar. 26, 2010

Arianna responds favorably to Brady's declaration of love and decides to go ahead with the wedding despite Nicole's intrusion. Desperate Nicole reverts to her old ways and tries to derail the nuptials when Fay shows up and stops her. Meanwhile, the wedding ceremony is delayed by a hotel catastrophe. Nicole takes heart, but as the about-to-be-newlyweds head off to their room for some premarital romance, Fay gives her daughter a good talking-to and seems to convince her to let Brady go. Brady and Arianna are ready to tie the knot when they encounter another obstacle to their wedded bliss.

Rafe questions EJ about Anna and indicates his conviction that she was working with someone. EJ covers his own role effectively. Rafe and EJ go to Stefano and ask him what he knows. Stefano is shocked to learn that Anna kidnapped Sydney, and he convinces Rafe of his own innocence. Rafe makes a plan to go to Santo Domingo to grill Nicole about her ties to Anna, but there's a hitch in his plans. Meanwhile, Anna lands in her tropical paradise, apparently home free.

Will returns his Christmas gift to his grandmother and says he can't let her and Stefano near Sydney again. He explains that his mom and EJ gave him hell for it. Stefano apologizes for his son's behavior and says he will make sure EJ does not speak to Will like that again. Will confides to Kate that Mia was two-timing him, and he broke up with her. Meanwhile, Mia tells Chad that she broke up with Will. Gabi comes upon them and exchanges words with Mia about Will. Chad overhears the truth and dumps Mia, who's gone from having two guys to having none in record time. Meanwhile, Gabi runs into Will, who thanks her for doing him a favor.
